All of these reviews (unless otherwise noted) originally appeared in the Victoria Times Colonist and are probably copyright that newspaper. All of them refer to concerts taking place in and around Victoria, BC.

I preparing these for the Web I have tidied up the spelling (and used Canadian rather than the US spelling which the T-C employed before the publication of the Oxford Dictionary of Canadian English).

I have not, though, corrected any grammatical infelicities which the pressure of a deadline may have caused. So don't bother mailing me to tell me if you've spotted one, I probably spotted it myself on publication date, with an "Oh God, how could I?"

The differing lengths, of course, tend to reflect the exigencies of available space, although I have permitted myself the luxury of restoring cuts made. (Actually it would have taken more time to find my clipping and make the cuts in my electronic original, but I digress)

What these reviews show is some of the amazing richness of musical life in Victoria.

I say "some of" because I don't immediately have access most of my Victoria Symphony reviews in electronic form. Considering that they give more concerts than any other single organisation in town, this is quite an omission. I'm working on getting them on line.

Also, there have been numerous occasions when I couldn't get to a concert either because of pressures of my "real" job, because of clashes - it's amazing how often there are two concerts on the same night - or because of ill-health (which often seems to strike just when there's somebody playing that I really want to hear. Oh well...)

If there is something specific you are looking for, why not try the nifty search form?

When my Zope skills are a bit more refined, this index page will look rather nicer than it does now.
